Janet Kendi from Kenya struggled with a sin in her life that she could not get rid of. The contact with her mentor, Elsa from the Netherlands, made a change for the better. “Her words changed my view of myself.”
Janet learnt about Globalrize via Facebook. She saw the biblword course and was interested in joining, because it is a platform about God. She joined the course during the corona period, when there was a lockdown everywhere. Janet felt like she was getting spiritually malnourished and was hungry for the word of God. This is her story.
My grace is sufficient
‘I was struggling with a particular sin, which I really wanted to stop but my efforts were in vain. My spirit was willing, but my body was weak. I would promise God that I wouldn’t repeat that mistake again, but the day wouldn’t even end before I’ld go wrong again. It really broke me, as I was just like Paul in Romans 7:15 “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.”
When I shared that with my mentor, she told me that I don’t have to be perfect by myself, all I had to do was surrender it to Christ. She encouraged me with a verse of 2 Corithians 12: 9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness”.
This really changed my perspective. I acknowledged to God that this was my weakness and if He did not help me, I would sin. From that time I was freed and my life took another direction.
Sisters in faith
In this way, my mentor taught me something very important that has really helped me in my journey to salvation. She took time to listen, understand, encourage and teach me a lot in God’s kingdom. In her I found a sister and a prayer partner. I am glad to have got to know her.
Give light to everyone
Now I became a mentor myself, because I wanted to exercise Mathew 5:15 “No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.” There was a spiritual lamp lit in my life when I joined the course and so I thought it was wise to keep it where it would illuminate for others. So that is exactly what I am doing.
This platform strengthened my faith, encouraged and revived me and that is exactly what I am giving back.’
Janet has been active as a mentor for a while now. Elsa tells us, ‘Janet is in my mentor group and takes her mentorship very seriously!’ Hallelujah!
