Huge numbers of Ukrainians are leaving their country due to the war with Russia. Thank the Lord that practical help is offered from many places. Spiritual help is also offered; our chatters from the Russian team receive all sorts of requests from Ukrainians via Messenger to pray for acute needs.

Such as from Yelena, who writes,

‘My daughter is in the last term of her pregnancy. I have heard that she does not want to leave Ukraine. Right now, I am leaving with my youngest daughter, but my heart is staying in Ukraine, with my family and friends. I am in tears… Above all, I want to see my family and friends alive and well again. “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.” Psalm 91:7-8.’

Grace (one of our chat workers) writes back,

‘Yelena, thank you for writing. Our heart is with you. We are very concerned for the Ukrainian people and pray for everyone who is having trouble and in need. We will certainly pray for your daughter and her baby and for you and your youngest daughter, for your Motherland. May the Lord cover you as an eagle with his wings, so that his goodness and compassion will be with you! Stand firm, as it is written in God’s Word, ’Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.’

Olga writes,

‘I need help: support in prayer for peace and rest in the soul, for loved ones who are now under fire. The children have been sitting in cellars for eight days already, there are explosions in the neighborhood. They have our dogs with them; they are very scared, the pressure has risen.’

Grace,

‘Olga, thank you for your message. We are very concerned for the Ukrainian people and naturally we will support you in prayer. Stand firm, let the Lord go before you and protect you with His compassion and grace. As it is written in God’s Word, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Our hearts are in pain for the Ukrainian people, who are in need and are suffering. We will pray for your health and for the situation as a whole. The Lord bless you!’

Russia as older brother

Many Russians, especially from the older generation, look at the situation in a totally different light than those in the West. They see Ukraine and Russia as part of one family, the Slavic folk, where Russia is the older brother. In their eyes, Ukraine has been tempted by the West to forsake its family. Joining NATO and the EU is a totally wrong choice from an egotistical younger brother (Ukraine). The older brother is trying to prevent the abandonment of the family. Because it concerns the older brother, it is justifiable to use a strong arm – although many find the arm hitting way too hard. It is also not for nothing that so many Russians have protested against the war, even knowing that the risk of being arrested was high.

Pray with us!

The need is high, pray therefore for the Ukrainian people. Pray for a blessing over all the help that is offered. Pray for our team that responds to the chat messages. But do not forget Russia and the Russians – they are also in need.
