First international GlobalRize conference: meeting heroes of faith

It took eight months to prepare for the GlobalConference. Hopefully its fruits will be enjoyed for much longer. The first international conference was inspiring, encouraging and valuable. What a joy it was to welcome the eighty participants – 35 of whom were foreign colleagues whom, in many cases, we had never met before!

We heard impressive life stories and special testimonies from a number of foreign guests. Like the story of Noor from Libanon.

Frans de Lange, director, said: “I consider it a very special experience to discover that among the language team leaders attending the conference, there were also a number of faith heroes. Very encouraging and inspiring to hear their stories.”

Host families

Eighty guests stayed near ‘t Harde – 35 from abroad and 45 Dutch colleagues living further away. Everyone was accommodated with host families. This turned out to be a golden move: for the most part, guests and host families got along well and GlobalRize came much more alive for the host families. For the guests it was fun to get a taste of Dutch culture.

Wonderful anniversary concert

The program was intensive: workshops every day for the participants to give them tools for their ministry. We ended the week with a wonderful concert in which Gospel singer Sharon Kips performed. On stage we interviewed three colleagues from Lebanon, Tanzania and Kenya. The stories they told were SO special.

What did the participants themselves think of the conference?

What did the participants themselves actually think of the conference? We asked some of them.

“Coming to the Netherlands has been a great blessing. We are going back home fully equipped to make a greater impact in ministry.” Freddy (French team)

“Freddy and I are preparing for an online meeting with the whole team where we will give them a picture of the Conference and discuss ways how we can grow as a team and be more productive… in reaching people online with the gospel; from screen to church.” Jean Charles Nahiri (French team)

“For me the conference was an eye opener to know what is happening in missions across the globe and also have me an opportunity for networking and knowledge transfer, which is and will be helpful to me.” Jasper Herold from India

“In many countries, people are facing persecution of faith. The world is becoming more unsafe for people who boldly share the gospel. One of our workers will soon be ordered to leave the country with his family. That has a great impact on this family. Once again we realize that time is short. A lot is still possible online now, but in many countries evangelism is becoming increasingly difficult.” Frans de Lange, director GlobalRize
