GlobalRize spreads its wings internationally

On 1 January 2024, GlobalRize International will be launched. You may be thinking: but GlobalRize is already international, right? After all, more than half of the more than 850 volunteers are foreign. That is certainly true, but to work even more effectively, it is necessary to set up national branches.

Marten Visser will become the managing director of GlobalRize International. Frans de Lange, currently the operations director of GlobalRize, will become the general director of GlobalRize Netherlands as per January 1.

So why branch offices?

One of our priorities is to reach unreached people with the gospel. There are peoples all over the world who hardly have the opportunity to hear about Jesus. The best way to reach these people is through local Christians – people who speak the same language and have the same cultural background. This is already happening through our language teams. But reaching people through local Christians will be more successful if there are national branches with a lot of freedom to connect optimally with their target group. Marten Visser: “I want to encourage the branch offices to think about internet missions in their own way and start trying things out for themselves. Our knowledge and experience will help them do that. It is important that people themselves take responsibility and think through a good strategy,”

New satellite offices in India, Latin America and the United States

Branch offices have already been established in Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya. Marten Visser will look for opportunities to set up new national branches in Latin America, India and the United States. Visser explains: “India is an important country for us because it is the largest country in the world with the largest number of unreached people. The United States is important because many English-speaking Christians live there, providing access to substantial financial support. Approximately 60-70 volunteers are already active in Latin America; it is time for them to function independently.”

Connect globally, reach locally

GlobalRize Netherlands will continue to play an important role within GlobalRize International in the near future. The other departments are provided with advice and assistance from the Netherlands and are also largely financed in the beginning. GlobalRize’s various branch offices will become independent but remain associated with each other in GlobalRize International. In this way, together with our brothers and sisters abroad, we are committed to the wonderful task of reaching the world with the Gospel!
