Overwhelming numbers of visitors during festive opening
We look back on the fantastic opening of the GlobalRize Mission Center in ‘t Harde with gratitude. The official moment on August 31 was sun-drenched and celebratory; the open house on September 2 attracted more than 350 guests. Visitors were offered presentations and had the opportunity to see volunteers at work.

The official opening
We write August 31, 2023, 4:20 PM. The red ribbon is stretched, the red carpet is laid out, more than a hundred guests stand around it expectantly. The two young children of our Russian language team leader, Sylvia, arrive with the scissors on a velvet cushion, both beautifully dressed in traditional costumes. At 4:23 PM, Mayor Jan Nathan Rozendaal cuts the red ribbon and the official opening is a fact!

Overwhelming interest
The open day on September 2 was a highlight day. The interest was overwhelming, the atmosphere fantastic. The presentations that director Marten Visser and English team leader Emmie Kaljouw gave about the work were well attended. In various rooms, volunteers were watching a student’s lesson ‘live’ or chatting, so that visitors could see how online missions now work. A film was shown in the video room in which various employees explained what they do for GlobalRize and why. There was also plenty of singing accompanied by our own GlobalRize band. Visitors could enjoy coffee/tea and tasty snacks. There were even a few people who walked in who had no idea what GlobalRize stood for, but they had a lot of fun and sat down!

"What a great ambience"
“What a great ambience”
Director Frans de Lange says that he was overwhelmed by a great sense of gratitude for the enormous achievement when he looks back on the opening days.
Frans: “I got talking with a non-religious businessman, who was utterly amazed. “Are all of these people Christians? There are so many! What a great ambience and so much enthusiasm! How is that possible?” I think he was signaling something that we may have come to think of as normal, but the love of Christ was palpably present. Very special!
After closing time there was an old man on the sidewalk who left a donation and an older pastor couple who were happy to help. That’s basically how it went all week. We received small and large gifts and donations and we were able to get people interested in our work.”
